Alexander served under General Joseph E. Johnston from 1863 to 1865.  His unit surrendered in Greensboro, NC in May 1965.  This photo is from one of our family reunion scrapbooks stored in the GSU special collections.

Alexander and Sarah Ann are on the right of this photo.  They have joined the Nichols family at the grave of their daughter, Jane Ann Brannen Nichols.  We are indebted to Mary Hutcherson who brought this photo to the reunion.  She says that the photo was taken in approximately 1900.
